Nick Rewind DVDs Coming to Stores?
For the past couple of years, Nickelodeon has been releasing DVDs of older shows exclusively through Amazon.com. These Burn-on-demand DVDs include sets of Rocko's Modern Life, Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, and Doug. Because the actual DVD sets are manufactured when someone orders them, they are not being sold in stores. Now, rumor has it that these sets will soon be available in retail stores nationwide, starting in 2011. Classic Nick Movement: Progress in 5 Years
Today, I was thinking about the last 5 years, in terms of this whole "Classic NIckelodeon" movement, if you can call it that. It seems that around 2004/2005, as the internet was growing, message boards, websites, and petitions started popping up everywhere about bringing back the Nickelodeon of the 80's and 90's. When I first discovered this whole underground movement some 5 years ago, all we had to quench our thirst for Nick's past were old VHS tapes, if we could find them. Now, we're at the end of 2010, and although it may not seem like we've made any progress, I just thought I'd recap all the things we've gotten. Maybe signing all those internet petitions and writing all those letters to Nickelodeon actually paid off. Rugrats Returning to Nickelodeon?
While surfing the internet today, I came across some news that the Rugrats, one of the three first Nicktoons, is returning to Nickelodeon. While I was skeptical at first, I checked my TV listings and found that this is in fact true. Two episodes of the Rugrats are scheduled to air Monday, December 27, at 9:00am and 9:30am. The episodes are #92, “Chuckie’s Duckling / A Dog’s Life” and #93, “Chuckerfly / Angelica’s Twin”, both of which originally aired in 1999. My personal TV listings don't show the Rugrats airing anytime after that, but this quote was taken from an article on the website nickandmore.com: "The Rugrats Movie (1998) is also scheduled to air on Nick@Nite on Sunday, December 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Hey everyone, just wanted to put something up to start out with. I thought I'd start a blog just to keep everyone up to date on the latest news about Classic Nickelodeon.
